The Adopt-A-Spot program provides an opportunity for community organizations, schools, businesses, civic groups, churches, or families to show pride in Katy by volunteering to adopt a public area for the purpose of litter reduction and beautification.
Volunteers are responsible for picking up thousands of pounds of litter each year from Katy’s roadways, contributing to a cleaner, more beautiful city; a higher quality of life for residents; and a vibrant local economy. Being an adopter gives participants an opportunity to give back to the community, teach their children about community responsibility, receive positive publicity for their business, and gain valuable community service experience. Participants commit to a two-year investment and must clean up their spot a minimum of 4 times per year.
Please contact 281.391.4717 if you are interested in adopting a spot.
The original Adopt-a-Highway program began right here in Texas in 1985. Since then, it’s grown into a nationally and internationally recognized litter-prevention effort, saving taxpayers’ dollars and keeping our rights of way clean. Adopt-a-Highway currently has more than 3,800 participating groups across the state, and we salute those thousands of individuals who dedicate their time to actively make a difference and keep Texas beautiful.
Keep Katy Beautiful’s adopted highway is US 90 East of Katyland Drive to Snake Creek. We currently collect trash at least 3 times a year along this highway. If you would like to get involved in helping with the litter pick-up, please visit our Volunteers page to sign up.
